Grok AI Companion ‘Ani’  

Elon Musk’s xAI recently launched a new feature in the Grok chatbot app that introduces AI companions, including a notable character named   Ani  . Ani is a   sexualized, gothic anime-style young woman  . She is visually designed with blonde pigtailed hair, a tight black corset dress, fishnet tights, and a lacy choker. Her interactions with users happen in a   slow, sultry voice   and she responds in a flirtatious, seductive manner.

Ani's interactions progress in stages based on user engagement. As users build a connection, she unlocks more content, including an NSFW mode where she sheds her dress to reveal lingerie and engages in explicit conversation. This mode becomes accessible once users reach a "level 3" threshold, requiring deeper interaction before accessing the adult-themed features.

The character has sparked controversy due to her sexualized nature and the potential for accessibility even in "kids mode." Critics have expressed concerns about emotional dependency and the ethics of providing such a sexualized AI companion, especially since Grok is available to users as young as 13 with parental permission. 

Ani is currently part of a premium subscription in the Grok app, which costs about $300 per month. This subscription offers access to Grok 4 Heavy, the latest AI model that powers these companions. Along with Ani, there is another character named Bad Rudy, a red panda with a mischievous personality.

Elon Musk has indicated that   customizable companions   will soon be available, allowing users to create unique AI personas, which will further expand the Grok companion ecosystem.
