Jack Dorsey’s Bitchat that requires no internet

 Bitchat *

Bitchat   is a new decentralized, peer to peer messaging app developed by Jack Dorsey, the co founder of Twitter and CEO of Block. Unlike traditional messaging apps, Bitchat   does not require internet connectivity, phone numbers, or central servers  . Instead, it uses   Bluetooth mesh networks   to enable encrypted communication directly between nearby devices, allowing messages to hop from one device to another, effectively extending the communication range beyond typical Bluetooth limits.

features

Internet free messaging:   Works via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), forming a mesh network where devices relay messages for one another, enabling communication even during internet shutdowns or in areas with poor connectivity.

End to end encryption:   Messages are encrypted using X25519 key exchange and AES 256 GCM, ensuring privacy and security.

No accounts or personal identifiers:   Users do not need to register with email or phone numbers, enhancing anonymity and reducing tracking risks.

Temporary message storage:   Messages are stored only on users' devices, disappear by default, and are never stored on central servers.

Group chats ("rooms"):   Users can create password protected group chats named with hashtags, with messages stored and forwarded when users reconnect.

Future updates:   Plans include adding WiFi Direct support to increase speed and range beyond Bluetooth's current limitations.

Bitchat is designed to provide   private, censorship resistant communication   especially useful in situations where internet access is blocked or unreliable, such as during protests or in restrictive regimes. It aligns with Dorsey's vision of decentralized social media and communication tools that reduce dependence on big tech companies.

The app is currently available in beta via Apple's TestFlight and supports iOS and macOS devices.
