Adobe Brings Advanced Photoshop Editing and AI Tools to Android Devices
Adobe officially launched the beta version of its Photoshop app on Android on June 3, 2025. This release comes four months after the company introduced the Photoshop app for iPhone in February 2025. The Android app is available for devices running Android 11 or later, with a minimum of 6GB RAM, though 8GB or more is recommended for optimal performance.
The new Photoshop app for Android offers many core desktop-level editing tools optimized for mobile screens, including layering, masking, selections, and blending. It also integrates Adobe’s Firefly-powered generative AI features like Generative Fill, allowing users to add or transform elements in images easily. Additional tools include Spot Healing Brush, Tap Select for quick removal or replacement of image parts, Object Select, Magic Wand, Remove, and Clone Stamp tools. Users also get access to a growing library of free Adobe Stock assets and advanced layer controls with blend modes and adjustment layers.
Adobe is providing all features free during the initial beta period, aiming to attract new users, especially younger creators who prefer mobile workflows, while making Photoshop more accessible to existing users who want to work on their phones. The app represents a significant step beyond Photoshop Express, offering a more powerful and desktop-like experience on Android devices.
