Snapchat Launches New Tools for Building Bitmoji Games

Snapchat has announced the rollout of new tools in Lens Studio aimed at empowering AR creators and developers to build more dynamic and interactive Bitmoji games. This update marks a significant expansion of Snapchat's gaming ecosystem, providing both developers and users with enhanced creative possibilities and social gameplay experiences.

    Lens Studio 5.10 Enhancements:

Developers now have access to a suite of new game assets, including a turn based system that allows for back and forth gameplay. This enables users to Snap and respond to challenges or turns within the same game session, making gameplay more interactive and social.

    Customizable Character Controller:

The new Character Controller supports various gameplay perspectives such as third person, first person, side scroller, and top down, allowing for greater flexibility in game design.

    Upgraded Leaderboards:

Leaderboards now feature new templates for start and end screens, a standardized and hybrid view of friends’ and global scores, and new friend related metrics like "friends who have played," enhancing the competitive and social aspects of Bitmoji games.

    Bitmoji Suite for Personalization:

With the new Bitmoji Suite, users can create custom outfits, generate stylized props, and animate their Bitmoji using Snap’s animation library. This suite provides deeper personalization and animation capabilities for avatars within games.

    New Game Lenses:

Snapchat is introducing a collection of single player and turn based Bitmoji Game Lenses, including titles like Bitmoji Bistro, Bitmoji Bucket, and Bitmoji Blast. These games are designed to let users play solo or challenge friends directly within the app.

  Developer Incentives

Snapchat is also launching the Bitmojiverse Challenge, where developers can register for a chance to win cash prizes by using the new Bitmoji Suite and game assets in their creations.

  Broader Context

These updates build on Snapchat’s ongoing strategy to make Bitmoji a central part of the platform’s social and creative experience. With over 375,000 AR creators and developers already using Lens Studio, the new tools are expected to drive even greater engagement and innovation within Snapchat’s gaming community.
