Samsung Smart Ring Will Learn to Control Gadgets with a Wave of the Hand

It looks like Samsung engineers were seriously inspired by the technology from superhero movies. The company has patented a new version of the Galaxy Ring, which turns an ordinary smart ring into a remote control for any device.

Samsung's patent for the smart ring that could control other devices like tablets and laptops is quite an interesting concept! It seems they are aiming to expand the role of smart rings beyond health and fitness tracking. If the technology in the patent comes to fruition, it could bring a new level of interactivity and connectivity to their ecosystem of devices. The idea of transferring files or moving things between displays with a simple gesture from a ring feels futuristic and adds a layer of seamless integration between devices, much like Apple’s Continuity feature, but more intuitive and portable.

Currently, smart rings are mainly focused on health metrics like tracking heart rate, sleep, and steps. This new patent could signal a significant leap forward, especially if it works as described, where the ring is able to operate across multiple devices, bringing more utility to users who need cross-device control without the complexity of multiple inputs.

While these ideas are still a long way off (and there's no guarantee they'll be implemented), Samsung is clearly aiming to make interaction with technology more natural and intuitive. Future Galaxy Ring owners will be able to feel a little like dr strange or like Tony Stark.
