WhatsApp  Secret Codes for Enhanced Chat Lock 🔒Feature

WhatsApp is stepping up its Chat Lock feature by introducing Secret Codes, aimed at fortifying the security of private chat rooms within the app. 

Currently, Chat Lock segregates conversations into a separate folder accessible only through the phone's password or biometric authentication. 

While this is helpful for shared devices, it doesn't prevent those aware of the password from accessing these chats. Secret Codes aim to address this by allowing users to set a secondary password, distinct from the device unlock method.

 Once created, this additional layer of security causes the locked folder to vanish from the inbox.  To restore hidden chats, users must input the recently generated code directly into the search bar on the main page. If preferred, users also have the option to retain the locked folder permanently.  

Making chat locking more convenient, WhatsApp now enables users to lock chats with a simple long-press on a conversation, followed by tapping the three dots in the top right corner, and selecting 'Lock Chat' from the drop-down menu.

  **How to Set Up a Secret Code:**

  Suppose you have specific chats you wish to keep hidden. 

Begin by tapping the three dots in the top right corner, then selecting 'Chat Lock Settings.' Activate the Secret Code feature and create a unique password. 

Interestingly, this password can include emojis in addition to numbers, letters, and punctuation marks, allowing for creative combinations. 

However, it's important to note that the password must either consist of four characters or be a single emoji.  Upon setting up the code, the locked folder disappears from the main page.

 Nonetheless, users can disable the disappearing folder option by turning off 'Hide Locked Chats' in the settings. To reveal the conversations again, enter the code into the search bar.  This update is exclusively for WhatsApp mobile users, with no indication of these features extending to the desktop version. 

Secret Codes are gradually rolling out globally and are expected to be available to all users in the upcoming months. Stay tuned for the release of this patch for an enhanced privacy experience on WhatsApp.
