Huskies are one of the most popular dog breeds to keep as pets. They are not a pure breed and are constantly being cross bred to come up with ever faster dogs. They are sled dogs and known to pull heavy loads. The most famous husky breed is the Siberian husky. Huskies however as formidable as they are have a caveat about them. They are not able to survive hot temperatures as they are cold climate dogs. Huskies got their name in the 19th century as inuits in the coldest reaches of Canada and Alaska had huskies to pull their sleds across ice and snow. These ultra-powerful dogs quickly captured the imagination and became popular. Another fun fact is that the Allied invasion of Sicily in World War Two was also codenamed Operation Husky. In recent years a new trend has also started. People are now taking their Huskies with them on hiking trips. While the owners do not right sleds, they instead make their Husky carry all of their food, water and other equipment that they need for the hiking trip. It allows both the dog and their owner to get some much needed exercise while at the same time enables them to enjoy the great outdoors together. Huskies are no longer just being kept in cold climes. People in Middle East and elsewhere have also taken a liking to the blue eyed beauties. However the only precaution is that its environment needs to have air conditioning otherwise it would die in the heat. Huskies are also not very cheap either. In the United States for instance buying a Husky pup can easily set you back about one thousand dollars. Usually the shipping will not be included. Vaccinations and other medical requirements will further drain the wallet of any prospective owner. While huskies are very beautiful dogs they are not very easy to keep as pets. Many people started keeping huskies in recent years as Hollywood and the media in general have glamorized the dog with thick fur and most often pale blue eyes. The puppies meanwhile can be kept with relative ease, however as the dog gets older it becomes more and more difficult to handle it and the rate of husky abandonment is very high and continuing to rise.
Thus if you want to add a Husky as the latest addition to your family, know this that it is not an easy commitment and the dog is more difficult than most dogs. Thus if you are not one hundred percent sure that you are up for the responsibility that comes with keeping a Husky than better not buy one only to abandon it later
